Growing up in Edmonton, real estate was always a part of my life. My dad was a real estate agent and I remember driving around and watching him talk to people, and flipping through the MLS catalogue. My mother was gifted with interior design. She drew up the blueprints for our house on her own. I grew up in an environment that combined the art of design with the business of real estate. One of my strengths is the ability to see how a few adjustments can provide a significant return for my clients.
My family moved to Penticton, B.C. when I was young teenager but Edmonton always called back to me. I wanted to live in an area where I had more opportunity so as a young adult, I moved back to start my career. I worked in retail for a few years but I was never a 9 to 5 type of individual and knew I wanted to be a real estate agent. I started my career in real estate working for a new home developer, learning behind the scenes involvement in building a new home from start to finish but ultimately becoming a licensed realtor in 2003.
My first condominium project was selling out a 98 unit condo conversion west of downtown in the Oliver neighbourhood. It was an incredible experience. I learned the financing aspect of helping rental tenants become owners. We were instructed to slip notes under their door, but that felt impersonal. I decided to talk to them face to face. I knocked on every door and guided them through the process. That experience early in my career really helped me see the benefits of working with people in central Edmonton.
Downtown Edmonton and areas around it are part of my history. I attended school in Oliver and Westmount areas growing up. I now live in central Edmonton and am a big believer in living close to where you work, whether that is in downtown, in Capilano, Westridge, or even in Beaumont. I can appreciate people who may want more space or enjoy the downtime of a drive home after work, so I understand that there is something for everyone and with my knowledge of the city I can match a neighbourhood to a client’s needs.
For me though, I love the hustle and bustle of downtown life. Our downtown has the best combination of quiet nature and vibrant community activity. It’s incredible what the city has constructed with the extensive trail systems. You can walk and bike more, I just love it. I also love to get away and relax. I lived on Vancouver Island for a couple of years and most of my vacation time with my family is spent in the Okanagan or on the Coast.
One of my strengths as a real estate agent is the ability to empathize with people. I put myself in the shoes of the seller and what they are looking for. I want to provide the same service that I would expect in that situation. As a mother of four wonderful children, family is everything to me and clients are like my extended family.
So contact me for the smartest advice and top quality service and let me guide you through Edmonton’s real estate market.
